Down To The Last 7 Granite Mountain Hotshot Quilts

We are down to the last 7 quilts needing to be made.

Yes, I am aware of the holidays coming around the corner quite quickly and I am aware I am going to have surgery on my right foot tomorrow (my sewing pedal foot), but things need to get completed!

So, I am down now to begging!  I am begging you quilters if you have NOT stepped forward and joined this amazing project, if you have any UFO's or even completed quilts needing a home, let me know!

In the beginning I did not think this was doable, but you all stepped up and showed me how generous you are and we got them done.

We truly need some quilters that have NOT stepped up yet, to give a break to those who made 2, 3, 5 or more quilts so they can rest!

Please 7 is completely doable!

Amazing Quilt

I know I probably shouldn't say this, but I think this quilt is going to go on the faves list for the Granite Mountain crew.

I love the colors and I love the fact that all those signatures belong to firefighters and it has hanging loops for hanging up.

Everyone is so amazingly talented and I am so blessed to have you all step up to help!

This week I received a letter from a complete stranger who said she doesn't quilt but wants to help.  I was so humbled, I cried.

Another blog friend sent me a box that arrived yesterday full of quilting fabrics and patterns and I was amazed by the generosity to help keep this project up and running.

 

 

Autumn Scarecrow

I know that most of you who follow this are amazing quilters and crafters, but I did want you to know I am selling this little guy in my Zibbet/Etsy shop to help support Layers of Hope - Quilting 911.

He was made by me in 2008 and tucked away and forgotten about until a few days ago when I discovered a box of quilts and holiday decorations I have made over the past 5 years.

He is 35" Wide by 41.5" long and has a polyester batting so he is a bit stuffed so to speak!

I also have lots of batting and fabric bits I hate to toss away and if you use these types of things, please contact me, I would box them up and send them to you for the cost of postage!
 

Two More Completed Quilts for The Granite Mountain Hotshot families

This one was made and completed by Pat C. of Renton, WA and she was able to hand deliver it to the police department in which Jesse Steed's brother Cassidy works.

We have been blessed that several of the quilters are going to or have been able to hand deliver their quilts for the family members!

 Pat states it is just a twin sized, but it sure looks much larger!  I love the colors in this one and it is so appreciated when they receive a quilt!

The next one is another collaboration quilt between Julianne, the quilter and me, the finisher.  Julianne sent me the top, I added the fleece backing and did the quilting and it has been done for oh, about 15 minutes now!

The picture isn't really great as my granddaughter was not wanting to hold it because her arm was sore!

The last picture shows the hearts I put in the center of this quilt. They are not the best because they are free handed on the machine, but I know she will love it!

This one is for Glenna Eckel, the mom of Travis Carter one of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who perished!
 

More Quilt Pictures for Granite Mountain Hotshot Family

This is another quilt made by Kerri for one of the Deford brothers and I believe this is actually her 3rd quilt.  I love the super large blocks she used and the colors!

The 2 pictures above are of the quilt Jessica made for Amanda Marsh, the wife of Granite Mountain Hotshot Eric Marsh. I love the way Jessica tried to include the many colors of this area by reflecting the trees, the rocks and the sky!

These last two are once again a collaboration quilt between Pat West over at 501 Quilt Blocks blog and myself.

Pat was so amazing and sent me a ton of blocks to make quilts with so I grabbed these, added the borders, backing, batting and binding and love the way this one came out for Rebecca Deford, Dustin Deford's sister.

The back is a really sweet Zebra and Large Floral print flannel that came from JoAnn Fabrics and I added a pink and white flannel binding.

Will add the label today and in the mail it will go at the end of the week.

The Holidays and 13 Quilts

We are right around the corner from busy and crazy holiday season and I am very concerned because we still have 13 more Granite Mountain Fire Fighter Family members that need adopting as well as I need lots more 6.5" blocks from all of you!

To those who have given and sewn and quilted your fingers to the bone, thank you so much, you have blessed those who need it the most right now.

I am concerned with the holiday fast approaching that we will leave 13 family members without a quilt and that would absolutely be devastating.  

We cannot leave brothers, sisters, moms and dads feeling unquilted and I really need someone who has not stepped up yet, to please step up and say, I can take one or two.

I am sorry I cannot give you a tax deduction but the blessing you will receive from reaching out to these broken hearted family members will be far greater than a tax deduction.

Please, won't you rethink your no or someone else will step up and say, yes , I can do it?
